Firearms fair, gun show to aid Philippines relief efforts

In the wake of the Typhoon Haiyan catastrophe in the Philippines, SureFire Institute and Pro Gun Club announced that part of the proceeds of today and Saturday’s inaugural Firearms Fair and Gun Show in Boulder City will be donated to Save Our Children for disaster relief efforts.

“We are devastated by the tragedy that has unfolded in the Philippines this week,” said Troy Arce, manager of the SureFire Institute Range. “The timing of our event offers an opportunity for us to raise funds for the extensive relief efforts that will be ongoing in the Philippines. I have served on the rescue end of similar relief missions, so I know firsthand how important the international aid is for the people affected by a natural disaster of this magnitude.”

There will be an on-site booth at the event where participants can to make donations to Save the Children.

The SureFire Institute and Pro Gun Club show will feature an assortment of full auto shooting opportunities for the public. Industry exhibitors include gun manufacturers, who will offer the opportunity for attendees to shoot the latest firearm products. Other vendors will feature the newest gear, apparel and accessories, and guests can enter to win prizes.

There also will be shooting competitions, demonstrations and seminars, including rattlesnake avoidance training for dogs. Child-friendly activities include safety seminars, a bouncy house and BB gun and Airsoft shooting. Several food vendors will be on-site as well.

The show will be held at Pro Gun Club, 12801 U.S. Highway 95. Hours are noon to 6 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $10 per car.
