Boulder City businesses expect to get a little revenue bump this weekend, the last three-day holiday before the long grind of the school year and seasonal holidays begin.

Labor Day weekend traditionally a boosts area businesses that cater to Lake Mead National Recreation Area visitors such as the hotels, stores and restaurants, local Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive Officer Jill Lagan said.

“I know the service stations are always happy with the holiday weekend,” Lagan said. “They even beef up on their cold drinks and alcohol because a lot of people are buying here before they go down to the lake.”

Tom Ringer, assistant general manager for Albertsons, said holiday weekends bring an about 15 to 20 percent increase in revenues compared to other weekends.
