It’s been a year since the tea party movement developed and it’s still not easy to get a handle on it.
From the start, tea party leaders resisted getting too organized or centralized and they were especially insistent that no one was a spokesperson for the movement.
They failed to anticipate that this left a vacuum that others would be all too happy to fill.
Groups and leaders surfaced saying, “We are the tea party,” and there was no one to say to them nay.

Republican candidates for federal office stopped by Boulder City on Aug. 12 in a campaign stop tied to the 8th anniversary of the Nevada State Veterans Home.
U.S. Senate candidate Sharron Angle and congressional candidate Joe Heck spent nearly two hours talking to veterans and supporters, but neither gave a speech.
Both candidates are in statistical ties in their races.

Residents of Nevada State Veterans Home were treated to not the usual one, but three days of activities coinciding with the facility’s eighth anniversary.
Aug. 12, the home partnered with the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce for an open house anniversary celebration, which also served as the chamber’s monthly mixer event.
Friday, the United States Air Force Honor Guard Drill Team made a stop by the home to perform for residents.
