Death Valley’s best time to visit is now

For lovers of the outdoors living in Southern Nevada, one of the rites of spring, or even late winter, should be spending a day or more in Death Valley National Park.

It’s only a couple of hours from Las Vegas, just across the California border, and temperatures are already averaging in the high 70s. Wildflower bloom in lower elevations is approaching its best in late February and can remain excellent into early April.

Nevada Smith hitting road for more rural adventures

It’s a new year, and of course I have written a list of resolutions. In addition to losing some weight and exercising more, one of my big goals is to become better organized and more decisive.

Trouble is, there are too many choices and never enough time. So in the coming days I’ll gas up the car, load up the daughter and pick a direction. Nevada Smith country has no shortage of events to enjoy.
