Andrea Anderson, a regent for the Nevada System of Higher Education, is fighting to keep the only higher education facility in Boulder City open in the midst of Gov. Brian Sandoval’s budget cuts.
The College of Southern Nevada is the only higher education institution with a campus in Boulder City, but because of $160 million in proposed higher education budget cuts the campus could be closed.

The Boulder City satellite campus of the College of Southern Nevada, which currently serves more than 200 students, faces possible closure due to a proposed $162 million in statewide higher education cuts.
The cutbacks are being recommended by Gov. Brian Sandoval to help balance the state’s 2011-2013 budget. The College of Southern Nevada’s share of the cuts is $26 million which could mean closing most or all of its nine satellite campuses located in Boulder City, Caliente, Mesquite, Moapa Valley and the Las Vegas area. It may also have to close the Henderson campus.
