The organizers of the 48th Annual Art in the Park expect to have a strong event this weekend despite the continuing uncertainty of the economy.
The event will have 312 artist vendors this year, a nearly 10 percent increase in booth reservations from last year. Those numbers do not include the 15 food vendors, a number that stays the same year to year.
“(The economy) has not affected us this year,” the event’s community arts manager Wendy

Patrons are seen walking around the food vendors during last year's Art in the Park. Artist booth bookings are up nearly 10 percent from last year. Between 80,000 and 100,000 visitors are expected.
Adams said. “Last year I noticed it was down.”
Single booths run $425 for the weekend, while a double booth is $850. Food vendor booths start at $1,650, Adams said.

You’ve seen it and probably wondered, “What is with that rooster with the pink shoes on those Art in the Park posters?”
“Yippee!! The Rooster with Pink Shoes,” is the creation of former Boulder City resident and this weekend’s festival’s featured artist Patricia Ragone. The poster is a tribute to her friend, Shelley Crane, a breast cancer survivor.
When Crane won the battle, Ragone felt inspired to celebrate the victory by creating “Yippee!!”
“(Crane is) just cocky, wacky, off-the-wall,” Ragone said of her friend of nearly 40 years. “She marches to the beat of a different drummer.”
