Former BC swimmer garnering college acclaim: Grothe grabs  all-American honors

Boulder City graduate Zane Grothe may only be a freshman on the Auburn University swim team, but he already has the coaches and other teams taking notice.

At the 2011 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Minnesota on March 24-26, Grothe set school records in the 500-meter freestyle with a time of 4 minutes 16.57 seconds, the 1,000-meter free with 8:56.78, and the 1,650 free with 14:47.09.

He finished seventh in the 500 freestyle and sixth in the 1,650 freestyle.
