Garvin loses in state semifinals

Boulder City Review

Two time state champion Clinton Garvin lost in the 120-pound 1-A state semifinals today, ending his bid to become Boulder City’s fourth three-time champion, and its first is 25 years.

Garvin lost 5-4 to Lowry sophomore Eric Brooks in Reno this morning.

The loss leaves senior Brandon Foster (195) the only Eagles left with a shot at the state title. Foster won state last year at 220 pounds.

Garvin moves to the consolation bracket semifinals where senior James Smith (126), sophomore Patrick Garvin (132), senior Billy Viera (160), sophomore Nelson VanDiest (170), junior William Dunagan (220) and senior Joseph Tanefski remain.

Four other Team Boulder wrestlers were eliminated after losing their first to matches.
