Morgan sets meet record, Fonteboa wins 200 meters at state

Senior Michael Fonteboa won the 200-meter dash on Friday at Del Sol, the Eagles lone win during the opening day of the Class 3A state track meet.

Fonteboa finished in 22.5 seconds withe senior Joe Woodbury finishing third. 

Shot putter James Morgan won his second state championship with a throw of 59 feet, 1 1/2 inches, setting a new state meet record.

Woodbury sprinted to a second-place finish in the 100, 400 and the 110 hurdles.

Fonteboa finished third in the 100 and helped the 4×100, and 4×200 relay finish second.

The 4×400 relay team also grabbed second.

Top performers for the girls were the 4×100 and 4×200 relays, which finished second, and Heather Phelp’s second-place finish in the triple  jump.

Boulder City boys team finished second behind Churchill County, 133 1/2 to 98. The girls team finished a distant third.
