McBride: A short history of Boulder City newspapers

In August 1931 Las Vegas Evening Review-Journal publishers Al Cahlan and Frank Garside received a permit from the U.S. Interior Department to publish a newspaper for Boulder City. The Journal, together with its competition, the Las Vegas Age, had been covering the Boulder Canyon Project for about a year, but Cahlan and Garside wanted to take advantage of the business advertising that Boulder City promised, and to produce an “official” newspaper especially for Boulder City and its surrounding camps….{+}
