City chooses extension for landfill contract: Staff directed to develop contract by end of March

By Jack Johnson, Boulder City Review

City Council directed staff Tuesday to finalize a contract extension with landfill operator Waste Logistics for recycling, and the collection and disposal of municipal solid waste.

Waste Logistics, which took over the contract from Boulder Disposal in 2004, came before the council in December to express its desire to extend the contract past its 2013 expiration.

However, until Tuesday’s meeting the council was uncertain as to whether it would pursue the eight-year extension or put the contract out for proposals.
