Lillian Elizabeth (Murphy) Cansdale, beloved mom, friend, teacher and guiding light, passed away on March 11, 2012, in Boulder City.
Lillian was born on Dec. 31, 1926, in Albany, N.Y., to Fred and Lillian (Graves) Murphy. She grew up with her two brothers and two sisters, and attended Catholic school.
She married Walter Charles Cansdale on June 8, 1943, in Troy, N.Y. Together they traveled across the country during his training in the Army Air Corps and returned to New York when he was shipped overseas during World War II.
Upon his return from war, they relocated to Southern California where Lillian enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, which included camping, fishing and visiting Las Vegas.
Lillian is survived by two sons, Walter (Betty) Cansdale of Irwin, Penn., and Jerry (Julie) Cansdale of Boulder City; seven grandchildren, Walter, Billy, Jonathan, Daniel, Jennifer, Melissa and Elizabeth; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Thursday, March 15, at noon. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Boulder City Family Mortuary. The family invites you to sign an online memorial guestbook at www.bouldercityfamilymortuary.com.
