Dorothy Harris Steele McCollum, 94, of Boulder City, passed away Feb. 23, 2012, with her loved ones at her side.
She was born Dec. 6, 1917, in Pueblo, Colo., to Marion and Harriet Harris.
She spent her childhood in Coos Bay, Oreg., and Delta, Utah, where she met and married Leroy Steele on April 17, 1936, in the Salt Lake Temple.
Together they raised seven children, six daughters and one son. In April 1960, the family moved from Delta to Boulder City, where they owned and operated the Frosty Freeze Drive-In from 1960 until Leroy’s death in 1972. Dorothy then married Alton (Mac) McCollum on Oct. 11, 1976, and they spent their golden years traveling in their fifth-wheel to Idaho for pheasant season and to Pismo Beach during the summer months until Mac’s death in 1998.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Harriet Harris; sister, Vivian Henry; husband, Leroy Steele; and husband, Alton McCollum. She is survived by her children, Billie Rae Rowley, Barbara Dunbar, Karyl Lambert, Karla Steele, Richard (Joanne) Steele, Kaye (Ron) Dent, Kathy (Gary) Amrine; 20 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. at Nickle Mortuary in Delta, Utah, with graveside services immediately following.
