Well, as another year comes to a close I can’t help but think about all that happened during the past 12 months. We are one year closer to the end of “The Great Recession” (yes, it will eventually come to an end)! Although the painful economic challenges of the past five years have taken a tremendous toll on the city and its residents, the early recognition by the city’s elected and appointed leaders of the realities of the “new normal,” and the cooperation and shared sacrifices of the city’s unionized work force resulted in Boulder City surviving in a time when other cities are facing bankruptcy.
