Markotay celebration of life set for Friday

Special to Boulder City Review

The family will honor Larry-Lee Markotay’s life on Friday, May 4, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Multi-use Building next to the pool at the corner of Fifth Street and Avenue B.

The event is being hosted by his father Larry and his sisters, Penny and Cyndi. The family requests that people bring photos and joyful stories to share. Desserts will be served.

Larry was born on the Fourth of July in 1967, so look for the red, white and blue balloons. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your favorite charity.

In a letter to the editor on page six, the family described Markotay as “a dedicated peace officer with a sensitive personality and a wonderful sense of humor. He tried to treat everyone with respect and dignity. He put his life on the line many times in service of others and we know he is in heaven with his mother.”

Markotay, who graduated from Boulder City High in 1985, was found dead in a Sunset Sation hotel room on Tuesday, April 24. It was the second day of his trial for eight felony counts including burglary while in possession of a deadly weapon and theft.
