A 46-year-old Las Vegas man is presumed to have drowned Saturday at Sandy Cove at Lake Mead National Recreation Area, the park service reported Sunday.

The body of Kiangsak Ratana was found in 30 feet of water by the Search and Rescue Unit Dive Team from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

It is the sixth drowning of 2012 and the first in August, which is traditionally the deadliest month at Lake Mead. He reportedly was not wearing a life preserver, according to witnesses.

Ratana was reported missing at approximately 11:33 p.m. Saturday. National Park Service Rangers conducted the initial search until 3 a.m. Sunday.

The search resumed a few hours later with the assistance of Metro. Ratana was identified by the Clark County coroner Sunday.
