Interim manager sought for December

Arnold M. Knightly, Boulder City Review

The City Council will seek an interim city manager from its current department heads to cover the month between the current manager’s retirement and the start time before the new city manager begins.

The council approved a motion Tuesday to allow Mayor Roger Tobler to interview department heads that may be interested in the temporary position, which would run from City Manager Vicki Mayes’ retirement Dec. 13, until new City Manager David Fraser takes over Jan. 14. The mayor will then bring back a recommendation to the full council at its next meeting Dec. 11.

Among the department heads that will likely be interviewed would be Finance Director Shirley Hughes and Public Works Director Scott Hansen. Hansen was a finalist for the city manager position that went to Fraser. Tobler plans to talk to all the department heads for their input even if they don’t want the position.
