Council votes to have state probe email allegations

The City Council on Tuesday requested that an outside agency investigate allegations that Police Chief Thomas Finn may have committed a felonious acts by ordering his department to delete emails.
The council voted unanimously to have the Nevada Department of Investigation investigate whether Finn violated state laws by ordering his department to delete emails related to the Mongols Motorcycle Club gathering in the city this past June.

City Attorney Dave Olsen presented a legal opinion on the matter, stating that a clear violation of the law was not apparent, because he did not believe anyone followed the orders and deleted the emails in question.
