Local attorney will seek damages

A Clark County District Court judge Tuesday granted the dismissal of part of a lawsuit against local attorney Stephen Stubbs filed by Boulder City Police Chief Thomas Finn. Finn then asked to voluntarily dismiss claims against the suit’s four additional defendants.
Stubbs said Judge Jessie Walsh granted his motion claiming the suit was a strategic lawsuit against public participation, or SLAPP lawsuit, filed by Finn to intimidate Stubbs and prevent him from making criminal allegations against the chief.
Finn filed the suit Nov. 26 claiming Stubbs, City Attorney Dave Olsen, Councilman Cam Walker, police Sgt. John Chase and retired police Sgt. Dan Jennings conspired to damage Finn’s reputation and have him removed from his position.
