Bighorn roundup begins next month

The bighorn sheep may be an attractive element of Boulder City’s desert environment, but their high numbers can be problematic.

Due to a large amount of accidents involving vehicles and sheep along U.S. Highway 93 in Hemenway Valley, and the dangers of people stopping along the highway to take pictures of the sheep, the city and Nevada Department of Wildlife are working to remove some of the animals from the area.

“It’s an unsafe condition along U.S. 93,” city Public Works Administrator Scott Hansen said. “We definitely have a lot of sheep and vehicle accidents.”
